About Me

Jin Theriault is an innovative performer and teacher, newly based in Dublin, Ireland. With fifteen years of freelance experience, Jin has performed across the globe in a variety of formats and has taught woodwind instruments to the highest level.

Jin studied Music at the University of York followed by a Masters in Saxophone from Trinity Laban in London, for which he achieved a distinction.

Following his studies Jin’s career has been broad in scope. Starting as a saxophonist, Jin is in demand as an orchestral musician, working with Covent Garden Sinfonia, Brighton Philharmonic Orchestra & Project Instrumental for live performances and recording sessions. Jin’s chamber ensemble ‘The Mifune Tsuji Trio’ combine Saxophone, Violin & Piano to give chamber concerts around the UK. Jin has also been working on London’s West End as a multi-instrumentalist. He has dedicated himself to the study of eastern flutes as well as being highly proficient on Clarinets and Flutes.

Jin’s primary artistic output has been through the band ‘Perhaps Contraption’. The band has performed at almost every significant UK music festival, as well as venues such as The National Theatre, Southbank Centre, Olympic Park (2012) and the Edinburgh Fringe (2019). Jin is not only a performer in the band, but has written many of their songs and works, including ‘Home’ & ’YouAre’ on their album ‘Nearly Human’.
